Bramley Village
On a December evening in 1894, Bramley's first Parish Council was formed during a meeting at the Constitutional Hall. The Honourable Henry Cubitt, an MP and resident of Birtley House, was proposed to chair the meeting. After 54 attendees raised their hands to elect from 17 nominations, nine Councillors were selected and Mr Horace Ricardo became the first chairman of the Council.
Today, Bramley Parish Council is still composed of nine unpaid volunteers who live within the Parish. The Council employs a part-time Clerk and manages and funds a range of community activities, including the Village Hall, the Eastwood Road playground, common land, and the Sports Pavilion on Gosden Common.
As part of their responsibilities, the Council reviews and comments on local planning applications coordinate with Surrey County Council and Waverley Borough Council on issues affecting the Parish, and addresses concerns residents raise.
If you have any local issues you can contact your Parish Council using the form below or by contacting councillors directly using the details on the Councillors page.
The Council invites residents to attend Parish Council and Planning Review Committee meetings, which are held in the Parish meeting room at the Village Hall. You can find details about forthcoming meetings and access records of previous discussions on the Council Meetings page.
